نبذات ليلى العلمي

ليلى العلمي ‏هيَ كاتِبة وَرِوائية أمريكية مَغربية مِن مواليد عام 1968، وهيَ حاصلة على دَرجة البكالوريوس في المَغرب، وحاصِلة على مِنحة دراسات عُليا في المملكة المتحدة، حيثُ حصلت منها على درجة الماجستير في عِلم اللغويات وفي عام 1992 انتَقلت لَيلى إلى الوِلايات المُتحدة، وَحصلت هُناك على دَرجة الدكتوراه في عِلم اللغويات من جامعة كاليفورنيا الجنوبية. بَدأت ليلى بنشر كتاباتها في عام 1996، وفي عام 2015 وَصلت إلى نهائيات الترشح لنيل جائزة بوليتزر في الأَدب عن روايتها حِكاية المغربي (2014) وَالتي أشادَ بِها النُقاد.

Laila Lalami was born in Rabat and educated in Morocco, Great Britain, and the United States. She is the author of four novels, including The Moor's Account, which won the American Book Award, the Arab-American Book Award, the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award, and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and The Other Americans, which was a national bestseller and a finalist for the National Book Award in Fiction. Her essays and opinion pieces have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, The Nation, the Guardian, the New York Times, and in many anthologies. She is the recipient of a British Council Fellowship, a Fulbright Fellowship, and a Guggenheim Fellowship, and is currently a professor of creative writing at the University of California at Riverside. Her new book, a work of nonfiction called Conditional Citizens: On Belonging in America,/i> was published by Pantheon in September 2020

En 1991, après avoir obtenu une licence en littérature anglo-saxonne de l'université Mohammed V de Rabat, Lalami a reçu une bourse du British Council pour étudier en Grande-Bretagne. Après avoir obtenu une maîtrise en linguistique à l'University College de Londres, elle retourne au Maroc et travaille comme journaliste pour le journal de langue française Al Bayane, où elle couvre des événements politiques et culturels, et écrit une chronique hebdomadaire. Elle déménage ensuite à Los Angeles et, plus tard, obtient un Ph.D. en linguistique de l'université de Californie du Sud1. Lalami est passée à la rédaction en anglais en 19962.
