وفي عن واحد وخمسين عامًا، في غرفة فوق السطوح حسب التعبير المصري.ولد نزيه نصيف ميخائيل الأيوبي في القاهرة سنة 1944، ودرس العلوم السياسية ثم عُيِّن مدرسًا بجامعة القاهرة قبل أن يسافر لنيل الدكتوراة من جامعة أكسفورد. انتقل بعد ذلك للتدريس في جامعة كاليفورنيا لوس أنجيلوس، ثم جامعة إكستير عام 1983.لعب الأيوبي دورًا مهمًا في تطوير مجال دراسات الشرق الأوسط في الجامعات التي درَّس فيها، وأصبح عمله الكلاسيكي «تضخيم الدولة العربية» مرجعًا لا ةغنى عنه للدراسات السياسية في المنطق

Nazih Al-Ayubi (1944 in Cairo – 1995), is an Egyptian writer who had obtained a BSc (1964) and MSc (1968) in Political Science from Cairo University, PhD in political science from the University of Oxford in England. He taught at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of Exeter in England. Nazih Nassif Mikhail Ayubi, political scientist and Middle East scholar, was born in Cairo in 1944 where he held his first academic posts before taking an Oxford Doctorate and a Professorship at Cairo University. After four years as a Professor at the University of California Los Angeles, he came to the University of Exeter in 1983. He played a key role in the development of Middle East studies at the University, and was also a member of the Politics Department. His research interests included Egyptian politics, political economy, international relations and the international politics of Islam. He was also a Fellow at the University of Manchester and at the European Institute, Florence. He died in 1995.
