Our vision
kotobli is a book discovery platform that helps reading enthusiasts explore different ideas, events, and cultures through the literary and artistic works of local authors and diverse experts. Because we believe that literature is the fruit of the author's personal identities as well as their interaction with the social, political, and historical factors surrounding them, we offer a platform that allows you to refine your book search through all these variables.
Our mission
kotobli was created to fill gaps in representation and historical context in mainstream book discovery platforms. At kotobli, we are committed to the intentional process of centering and amplifying the work of small authors and publishers from the SWANA region, and giving them priority, especially in thematic lists that tackle their own issues, communities, and lived experiences.
Daleel al-Nashirin
Daleel Al-Nashirin is a project to support small Arab publishers and to invite them to collaboratively build kotobli’s database of publications from the region. We offer a free webpage that includes: a description of the publishing house, their contact details and locations, social media links, and a list of their books that can be filtered by genre, topic, and more. Publishers are also invited to sign up to kotobli’s content management system, which is designed to be easy to use, requires minimum technological skill, and is a system that will be continuously refined with new tools based on publishers’ needs and feedback.
