Anne Laurel Carter grew up in Don Mills. She’s been a librarian and ESL teacher in Southern Ontario and Northern Quebec. The ideas for her 21 books come from her experiences, people she’s met, and her imagination. She received her M.Ed. from OISE and her M.F.A. in Writing for Children and Young Adults from VCFA. If she’s not writing or teaching, you’ll probably find her riding her bike on Toronto Island or body-surfing like a mermaid on a beach near her home in Nova Scotia.

Anne Laurel Carter (born September 22, 1953) is a Canadian author with eighteen published books, mostly for young adults and children. Life Born in Don Mills, the youngest of four children, she began a science program at the University of Toronto, intending to study medicine, but left the program in her second year. At the age of 19, she went to Israel where she studied Hebrew, staying for a year and a half during the Yom Kippur War. She met her first husband in Israel; they moved to Californ...
